TTYD Post-Chapter 7: A Bad Feeling About This

We start the aftermath of Chapter 7 with Bowser. Peach, of course, has been taken away for Secret Reasons the game is having a lot of fun keeping from you, and telling you what she's doing would a) spoil the surprise and b) not be very fun.

Again, I wish we had Bowser comic relief after escaping the X-Naut Fortress, we just came off beating up Crump.

Surprisingly, if we were going in the pattern of Bowser always being two chapters behind, Poshley Sanctum is where he should be this time. I always assumed they had abandoned the "two chapters behind" thing by now and were just sending him to fake Crystal Stars.

Spoilers, Pennington had another one.

All we've gotta do is walk right up to Poshley Sanctum.

No reason not to terrorise the locals. And Kammy, too, who probably decided to take herself up on this suggestion and retire to Poshley after this game.

...The people of Poshley Heights seem surprisingly impervious to Bowser's presence.

...Toodles what the fuck

Toadia is more Bowser's speed. Although I don't think the Toads normally call for their parents when Bowser arrives.

TTYD Chapter 7 Part 2: Let's Get Lunar

When we last left our heroes, we were soaring through space at incredible speeds.

We land on the Moon- thankfully. How far would we go if we missed? At least the Lumas are off somewhere.

...We could've landed better. Thank goodness we're made of paper.

Goombella: Wow! That was KILLER! I totally never would've guessed I'd get to do THAT!
Koops: Man! That was something! Who would've thought I'd ever get to do THAT?
Flurrie: My! That was exciting! I'd never DREAMED I'd do a thing like THAT!
Dr. Agon: Whoa! That was AWESOME! Man, who knew adventurers got to do stuff like THAT!
Vivian: Gee whiz! That was wild! I never thought I'd take a ride like THAT...
Ms. Mowz: Oh, my! That was quite fun! I can't say I ever thought I'd take a ride like THAT!

Everyone seems to have enjoyed it. That's a surprise out of Koops.

And seem completely unharmed in all regards.

And now, we have but only to find it.

TTYD Chapter 7 Part 1: The Very Long Build Up

This will, of course, be our climactic run through the X-Naut Fortress. So we're going to spend the first half of the chapter completely ignoring their existence and being put through the wringer on the other major enemy of TTYD.

I believe you don't get a cutscene if you already triggered it through entering the pipe early.

Which is notable because this dialogue is slightly different if you know Fahr Outpost is the destination.

Say, Mario, did you know... Walking in the snow leaves really cool footprints! Thing is, the snow's falling so hard, they totally disappear quickly.

Sadly, not in this game.

I was sniffing around just in case of secrets behind the foreground trees, and I found this from the Wonky secret instead. Double Dip P (3 BP) can be acquired through other means, but there's only two copies ever.

Shine Sprite is behind this tree in the next room.

Hey, Mario, check it out! I can totally see my breath! Must be really cold, huh? That is just SO awesome! I grew up in a warm place, so this is totally new to me!

At least she enjoys it.

TTYD Post-Chapter 6 Part 2: The Saucy Side of Town

Our first stop with our shiny new Ultra Hammer is, of course, this door we saw earlier.

So what's in the mystery pipe?

Goombella: Omigosh! It's freezing! Where the heck are we, the polar ice cap?
Koops: It's s-s-s-s-so c-c-cold! I wonder where this village is located, anyway?
Flurrie: Why, how absolutely frigid! Where on earth could this outpost be?
Vivian: Brrr! It's freezing here! Where do you think this place is?
Bobbery: Rather frosty, isn't it? Almost freezes one's mustache, eh, old boy?
Ms. Mowz: Oooh, it's so chilly... I wonder where this place is.

...I have no idea, but this is starting to sound like Chapter 7. Let's leave this place until we're ready.

(Incidentally, Chapter 7 won't formally start until you talk to Frankly and learn you have to go here- Mario can't go to the Moon until he learns he needs what he can get here and is able to ask for it.)

So we head back to the Rogueport Under, for there's a leaky pipe in the back here.

Another Shine Sprite above Dazzle's pillar. I always thought there was a Star Panel on one of the roofs, but it doesn't look like it.

You mean to tell me I can't Gulp that?

Picking up another level in BP. All of the Badges! If this was 64, I would have capped HP at 50 with this level up.

Now then, here's a secret I could've done back after Chapter 5, but chose to keep for now.

TTYD Post-Chapter 6 Part 1: Every Dunce Has Its Day

As usual, we start in Grodus's lair, watching him berate one of his many minions for the failures that have led to Mario adding a Crystal Star to his collection.

This time, it was falling for a fake Crystal Star. They dodged the one in Glitzville just fine! How did Beldam fall for this one?

And why is this X-Naut the one being berated? Did Beldam pass it to him and he overlooked the fakeness?

I love this exchange. The X-Nauts are pretty funny most of the time, but this one might be the best one. Just the way he goes "...maybe?" There are so many readings and all of them are amazing.

Grodus is more angry at Mario than the X-Naut. His well-crafted plans are falling to pieces in front of him, and he's helpless to stop us getting all seven Crystal Stars and then...

Grodus, however, doesn't consider this a failcon. It's going to suck, but he can play off this. We won't see this in action for a long time, but do keep it in the back of your mind.

The X-Naut has one last thing to mention, before he leaves Grodus to his clasping hands and inane cackling.

Grodus is rather irritated.

He mumbles it into Grodus's ear so we, the audience, do not hear. Although with that said... he does have good reason.

It seems to have bothered Grodus. The X-Naut is sure not to explain what he's learned aloud.

Grodus kinda spoils it. Sounds like it's treason season.
